EDITOR TERLICK SAYS: A rare and glorious piece of motorcycle history here, no doubt destined for a museum or collector in the market for top-shelf classic British race machinery. Norton’s Manx racers were the undisputed kings at the Isle of Man from about 1930 right through to the early ’60s, before Japanese manufacturers moved in and began to dominate, but the connection actually goes right back to 1907 when a Norton won the twin-cylinder class at the very first Isle of Man TT. At that stage the company was very young, but the 1907 victory gave birth to a thirst for Manx victory in the Norton family, and an expectation of high performance and race track success among buyers. This bike of Kevin’s comes from the midst of Norton’s glory years on the island, with the seller offering plenty of paperwork and history to help its next owner confirm the bike’s credentials. Wonderful stuff.
